Description

Joint-space narrowing, erosions, synovitis, and bone inflammation are organised into a pattern-based diagnostic approach. Practical imaging examples compare degenerative and inflammatory disease across rheumatoid, psoriatic, reactive, septic, and axial spondyloarthritis.

Learning Objectives

  • Distinguish degenerative from inflammatory joint disease using a structured imaging approach.
  • Recognise early MRI and ultrasound findings of rheumatoid and other inflammatory arthritides.
  • Differentiate major patterns of peripheral and axial inflammatory arthritis.
  • Recognise septic arthritis and other infectious joint disorders that require urgent diagnosis.
  • Assess sacroiliac and spinal manifestations of spondyloarthritis.
